What each one does well

Genomisaur

  • Cheapest per-couple option at $99
  • Only product with 100 simulated offspring genomes
  • ~2 hour turnaround; no lab work required

Nucleus & Orchid

  • Nucleus includes WGS and a more polished single-person experience
  • Orchid is the only vendor offering PGT-P on actual IVF embryos
Our take

Pick Genomisaur if both partners already have genetic data and you want preconception-specific outputs cheaply. Pick Nucleus Preview if you want WGS in the box and only care about yourself. Pick Orchid if you are already doing IVF and want to screen embryos directly. These products do not really compete head-to-head — they serve different points in the family-planning journey.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use all three?

Yes. A common path: upload existing 23andMe / AncestryDNA to Genomisaur for a $99 preconception readout first; if you decide to pursue WGS, use Nucleus Preview or upload a Nucleus VCF to Genomisaur; if you then move to IVF and want embryo screening, use Orchid.

Are any of these medical-grade?

All three are consumer products and are informational, not diagnostic. Carrier screening results from all three should be confirmed with clinical-grade testing before making reproductive decisions.

Which one has the most polygenic risk scores?

Counts vary by vendor and change over time. Genomisaur publishes 71 scores across 14 categories with per-score performance metrics; Nucleus and Orchid do not always disclose exact counts. Our PGS score library at /scores lists every score we run.

Informational, not diagnostic

Consumer preconception reports — ours, Nucleus & Orchid's, and others — are informational. Carrier and polygenic risk results should be discussed with a qualified healthcare provider or genetic counselor before making medical or reproductive decisions.
