Frequently asked questions
Is Genomisaur a cheaper alternative to Nucleus Preview?
Yes — the Genomisaur Family Full Report is $99 one-time versus Nucleus Preview's listed $399. The difference is that Nucleus includes whole genome sequencing and Genomisaur assumes you already have genetic data.
Do I need whole genome sequencing for a preconception report?
No. Consumer SNP arrays from 23andMe, AncestryDNA, or MyHeritage cover enough well-studied variants to produce meaningful polygenic risk scores and carrier screening results. WGS is a nice-to-have for rare-variant resolution, not a requirement.
Which one should I buy?
If you do not have any genetic data yet and want a WGS-backed report, Nucleus Preview is the most comparable product at ~$399. If you (or either parent) already have 23andMe, AncestryDNA, or MyHeritage, Genomisaur's Family Full Report gives you preconception-specific outputs — 100 simulated offspring, carrier screening, PRS — at $99.
How does two-parent simulation work?
We model meiosis computationally: each simulated offspring inherits one chromosome copy from each parent, with crossover events shuffled in. Running 100 of those simulations gives you a distribution — "72 of 100 children had brown eyes, 20 hazel, 8 blue" — instead of a single deterministic guess.
Is this medical advice?
No. Both Nucleus Preview and Genomisaur are informational reports, not diagnostic tools. Carrier and risk results should be reviewed with a qualified healthcare provider or genetic counselor before making medical decisions.
Informational, not diagnostic
Consumer preconception reports — ours, Nucleus Genomics's, and others — are informational. Carrier and polygenic risk results should be discussed with a qualified healthcare provider or genetic counselor before making medical or reproductive decisions.
